Mitchell’s Buzzer-Beater Keeps Cavs Perfect, Thunder Also Stay Unbeaten
Donovan Mitchell delivered late-game heroics as the Cleveland Cavaliers edged the Milwaukee Bucks 114–113 in a thrilling NBA showdown, maintaining their perfect start to the season.
Mitchell, who racked up 30 points, four assists, and three rebounds, hit the decisive shot with less than a second on the clock. The Bucks had appeared to seize control after Damian Lillard put them ahead with a jumper at the 10-second mark, but Mitchell’s clutch response kept Cleveland atop the Eastern Conference with a flawless 7–0 record.
“That’s a big win. They played their behinds off,” Mitchell said postgame. “As a group, we just continue to fight and claw.”
Lillard starred for Milwaukee with 41 points, nine assists, and four rebounds, while Giannis Antetokounmpo added 34 points and 16 rebounds. Despite their efforts, the Bucks fell to 1–5, sitting second from bottom in the East.
Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder also remain unbeaten after a 105–92 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 25 points and nine assists, as OKC recorded a franchise-first six straight wins to open the season.
The Thunder saw balanced scoring, with Luguentz Dort, Jalen Williams, Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Joe, and Chet Holmgren all scoring in double figures. Impressively, each of their six wins has come by a margin of at least 12 points.
